Volunteer at Asmbly!

Huge thanks to @TinkerDrinkerMakerMo, who singlehandedly knocked out the maintenance tasks for almost all of our printers during the 3D Printing Volunteer day, and solved two mysteries:

  1. Why the first layer on Sun Wukong last night was fine, but this morning was terrible (the nozzle was loose!)
  2. Why we’ve been getting Nozzle Temperature errors on Poseidon (the silicone sock on the nozzle went missing!)

@OctopusDream also made substantial progress on his project for handling uncured resin waste, and we cleared out a bunch of space in the 3DP area that was occupied with packaging or things we don’t need.

There’s also the cool lamp @Aneel brought.

That was a print that finished this morning on the P1S. Came pretty close to maxing out the build volume at 237 x 237 x 199 mm. My first time printing with Polymaker’s Translucent PLA.

@aneel - very nice, I like both the organic & geometric design. I assume one is the base for the other - am i correct?

The organic part is the autogenerated support (“tree” style) to print the top surface of the dodecahedron.

Paint Your Own Rainbow Sign :rainbow_flag: Sunday, June 29th, 230-530PM
On Sunday, @valerie is hosting a Paint Your Own Rainbow Sign event! We need volunteer help setting up before the event (2:30p-3p), helping people with supplies and providing tours of the space during the event (3-5p) and cleaning up (5p-5:30p). Reply to the event post if interested.

Volunteer: Ceramics :ceramics: Tuesday, July 1st, 6-8PM
On Tuesday, @winnie will be wedging clay for the recycling program and many hands make light work! This will be the main focus of our Volunteer Day in Ceramics. The clay recycling program takes a lot of work, and Winnie has been doing most of it herself. We’d love for a couple more volunteers to help her on a consistent basis. Use Tuesday as your intro!

Reminder that these opportunities are open to all, require no registration, and (if you’re a part of the volunteer program) count toward free membership. Hope to see you there!

Hey @Sid, is the Metal Shop volunteer day happening tomorrow? I saw it posted on the ASMBLY instagram page, but do not see info in yo.asmbly.org or on the events calendar. Thanks!

It is not, apologies for the confusion! The social media team didn’t get the update in time and accidentally posted it.

Asmbly Maker Showcase - Saturday, July 19th, 11AM-3PM

If you haven’t been to one of these quarterly events yet, it’s a series of TED Talk style presentations from your fellow Asmbly makers showing off what they’ve been working on. If you’re curious about how other makers use the equipment, it’s a great source of inspiration! We’re looking for a couple folks to help with setup and breakdown for this Saturday’s event. Sign ups are here.

Volunteer: 3D Printing - Sunday, July 20th, 1130AM-230PM

We have the Volunteer day for 3D Printing on Sunday! Help keep our printers running smoothly every third Sunday of the month. Whether you’re a seasoned expert or just curious about how the machines work, we would love to have your assistance. You never need any experience to come to these volunteer days, as they are hosted by someone who knows their way around the shop. It’s a great way to learn a new skill and make some 3D printing friends!
