Reminder: put filament in dry boxes

Just a friendly reminder: filament is sensitive to humidity. PLA isn’t bothered too much by it, but other filaments will print poorly if they get too “wet”. We have sealed boxes around with silica desiccant in them to keep filament dry.

At Asmbly, our etiquette is that if your reservation is about to start and the previous person hasn’t returned to claim their print, you remove their print from the printer (note: it’s totally reasonable to swap out the whole plate!) and unload their filament and place them on the table next to the XL. This includes checking the filament type and putting it in a dry box if it’s not PLA.

Bumping this because it came up in a recent question. Asmbly has a lot of these dry boxes around. If you take filament off of a printer and it is not PLA, please put it in one of these boxes and snap it closed. If you notice that the silica in the dryer is not orange, set it aside. The silica has absorbed too much moisture and needs to be “recharged” (dried).

Asmbly also has three of these: SunLu FilaDryer S1 - Asmbly Wiki and a Sovol 2-spool dryer next to Zephyrus. Feel free to use these dryers to dry your filament before, during, or after printing.
