Maker Camp - A First Look at Youth Summer Camps!

Maker Camp is coming this summer!

We’re excited to launch this hands-on, creative summer experience for kids ages 10 - 14. Campers will explore real tools and materials across our shop areas, all while learning new skills, building cool projects, and having a great time with fellow young makers. Camps start the week of June 16 and run in weekly half-day sessions, with two fun themes each week.

Renaissance
Step back in time and bring the past to life!

  • Craft your own medieval currency

  • Build amazing projects — from traditional leatherwork to high-tech laser cut designs

  • On the final day, join our Ren Faire, where campers barter and trade their creations using the currency they made themselves!

Tabletop Gaming

  • Work in small teams to create your own board game from scratch

  • Prefer a classic? Rebuild a favorite public domain game with a unique twist

  • Make your own game pieces, boards, and packaging

  • Finish the week with a Game-a-thon — show off your game and play everyone else’s creations!

Registration opens Friday, April 25
Early bird discount available through May 23

Spots are limited — check out the flyer for details and feel free to share with any families who might be interested! We will share more information when registration opens next week.

What are the hours? How will this impact the space/what areas will be used? Looks like mostly laser.

The camp is designed to be as minimally impactful to member use of the space as possible. This is a daytime week day camp which is Asmbly’s lowest utilization hours. The camp’s homebase will be the MPR which will be booked out for the full hours of the camp. The segments using shop areas will be booked only for the time necessary (likely no more than 2 hrs at a time). There will be activities in textiles, 3D printing, lasers, and ceramics. Woodshop and metal shop will not be used; electronics is also probably not going to be used.
