Introducing Evan! Our 2nd Education Coordinator :mario_luigi_dance:

As I mentioned when Introducing Sid! Our new Membership Coordinator :oh_yeah:, we had a fantastic pool of applicants recently and hoped to engage more of them in other capacities at Asmbly. I’m excited to share with you one such applicant that we’ve brought into the Education Team fold as Education Coordinator — @ewei!

Evan Weinberger

Evan has been a member at Asmbly/ATXHS for about 8 years and is well-versed in the history and transformation of the space. He’s a longtime maker who loves to dabble and started as a blacksmithing apprentice at age 13. As such, he has learned to use just about every machine we have onsite! You’ll often find him in The Shop where he’s made some really incredible pieces, some requiring very creative engineering (ask him about the thick solid walnut desk he built with a hidden monitor using a linkage hinge). We’re grateful to have him join the team and slowly ramp up, training closely with Matt in preparation for Matt’s availability changing in the new year. Evan will be a force multiplier on Fast Track sessions allowing us to offer a quick path to membership for more people. We’re also excited to tap into his blacksmithing expertise when the day comes that we can add that to our offerings (hopefully in the next few years :crossed_fingers:).

Same as with our other Asmbly staff — Matt, David, and Sid — Evan will sometimes be at the shop working as EC and sometimes be in the shop as a member working on his own projects. You’re always welcome to say hi to him — just like any other member — regardless of what mode he’s in, but if you need help on something membership related while he is at the shop as a member, ask when/how you can sync with him while he is on the clock. We want to be sure he has time at the space to pursue his own creative endeavors as well!
