On this day, the shop will be closed for personal use from 8am to 5pm as we come together to tackle some much-needed projects to enhance our space.
This will primarily be to benefit the existing workshop spaces, as we get ready for the early March opening of our Ceramics and new Metal Shop!
Towards the end of the month we will have a separate day or two exclusively for setting up the new spaces.
Asmbly thrives as a volunteer-run, community-driven space, and it’s events like these that keep our environment thriving and growing. We have a list of projects big and small to tackle on this day and we encourage you to join us for as much time as you can spare. Whether you can contribute an hour or stay the whole day, every bit of help makes a significant impact.
To show our appreciation, we’ll be providing breakfast, lunch, and beverages to keep everyone fueled throughout the day.
Thanks for being a part of Asmbly! We’ll see you there!
Some things we’ve accomplished last work day included: general shop cleaning, basic maintenance and greasing of tools and equipment, fixes to electrical outlets, project start for the clean front wall, new cameras, Asmbly shirts made, airhoses moved, hampster nests cleaned out of dust collecters, new filters, mopping, 30+ Rudy’s breakfast tacos and 8 large home slice pizzas consumed!! So much stuff!
I wish I had a better way to say thank you and acknowledge everyone’s efforts to help this space out. Some of y’all recently joined, some I know are power users of the space. Either way, we all accomplished quite a bit before lunch arrived!
Some Highlights
Dust Collector filter replaced and the filter bars reset. If the dust collector sounds like it’s broken, it’s working. If it sounds like it’s clean and fine, then it’s probably broken.
Blade rotations on all Jointer and Planer blades. Glue scraped off the planer rollers and allignment adjusted.
Deep clean and blade cleans on all bandsaws and table saws.
CNC Bed replaced. Always check your Z height and if you discover a mishap, stop your cut, make corrections, and let us know.
Metal shop clean and organization in preparation for the move.
Sand Blaster is getting some tune ups! It will be back online soon.
20 of the 4-shelf 2’x4’ shelving units built for ceramics!
Additionally some ceramics workspaces were able to be setup or at least started.
Deconstruction of the new lobby bathroom to prep for a nice new setup.
Paul setup a wonderful broom holder corner for us in the woodshop, near the bandsaws. Please keep all brooms here when not in use. That way folks don’t have to run around the shop looking for one. He also bought a few new push brooms for us!
Reconfigured Saw Stop dust collection
There were many more tasks completed than what I have listed. It was amazing to see the turnout, camaraderie, and positivity from folks who took time from their daily schedule to help the community as a whole. Words can’t express my gratitude.
