Hello! I just completed orientation yesterday, and I’m looking to take my woodshop safety class. There are two more classes in February and they are both full. I’ve joined the waitlist for both and requested to be notified when new sessions are added. Is it pretty normal for this class to be booked up? Does anyone have a guess on whether any more classes will be added this month or early next month? I’m super excited to join and get started! Thanks for your help! This is my first post, so if there is a better place to ask this, please let me know. ![]()
Hi Anjelica,
Welcome to Asmbly! We ordinarily run Woodshop Safety multiple times per week, but unfortunately there’s a triple whammy affecting it this month:
- Surge of new members, and the Woodshop is our most popular shop area
- Classes were cancelled during the freeze weekend, and those students had to be rescheduled
- We’re closing the whole woodshop this upcoming weekend to upgrade and overhaul our dust collection system.
We’ll be posting March class dates within the next few days. Signing up for the waitlist was a good idea too, as registrants cancel or reschedule fairly often. Thanks for your patience and we hope to see you in the shop ASAP!
Hi Evan! Thank you for letting me know! That makes complete sense. I’ll keep an eye out! I’m excited to start and also looking forward to checking out the new dust collection system. ![]()
If you want to get an early preview, please join us and other volunteers on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd while we set up the new machine and completely overhaul the duct setup!
This is a great way to get volunteer hours as well!
Awesome! I won’t be available until the afternoon on the 20th, and I’m busy all day the 21st, but I’m free all of the 22nd. Would I be able to join the 20th in the afternoon and then come back on the 22nd?
You bet!! That would be great. The afternoon and evening of the 20th we’ll likely need the most help. Assuming everything goes to plan, Sunday will be a bit lighter but still absolutely necessary to test everything properly
Awesome! I’ll plan to be there. ![]()
