From Tree to Table
Understanding the journey from forest to finished lumber is essential knowledge for any woodworker. In this one hour workshop, Brandon Berdoll will guide students through the sawyer’s process of transforming a tree into kiln-dried, surfaced lumber ready for furniture and woodworking. This insider look will cover how he selects quality logs, saws for maximum yield & figure, kiln dries & monitors moisture content, flattens & planes lumber to uniform thickness, and proper storage to prevent warping. Students will gain insight into how a sawmill’s decisions affect the beauty and usability of wood.
You can attend in Austin on Saturday, June 27th from 10:00am to 11:00am. Thanks to support from Berdoll Sawmill, tuition is just $15 for the session.
