Are there taps available for wood? I am interested in a M6 size.

There are taps for making threats in wood. You might be able to find them at Wood Craft or rockler

Hi Jared,

I should have rephrased. I understand Asmbly does not have them.

I am not too crazy about investing in one/a set for 1 threaded hole.

No problem. You can make one with the correct size bolt you need by cutting a give from the end up the bolt on opposite sides of each other for chip removal.

I don’t know your exact application, but if you are putting a standard bolt into wood, you would be much better off with a threaded insert. Threads that small cut into wood will not hold up long.

Hi @mgmoore,

Good idea which gave me the solution! It has fine threads on the interior so I can predrill the hole in the wood and crank it in with a bolt. It is fortunately threaded so that bolt would provide the leverage.
