Wide belt Cleaning

Reminder to clean up after using tools.

The wide belt is notorious for having dust piles in the exit area. I shouldn’t be able to leave footprints that could be tracked because there’s so much dust left behind.

Really, there’s no excuse for not cleaning up your dust here. The machine literally dumps it in a single pile that can be swept up in seconds.

It’s also helpful to open the side and vacuum out the collected dust inside the machine .

I think we need to go to signs or a checklist similar to the cold saw in the metal shop.

Sander had a black epoxy pile behind it this AM and was full of epoxy and sawdust inside.

We’ll probably see some of the dust issue taken care of with the new DC system- but it’s not going to fix folks turning a blind eye .

The dust collector suction is also very low at this time

I have noticed this around the table saws. I’ve had to sweep and clean more than usual.

Yes, the DC isn’t running as well as it could, and we’re all looking forward to the new system (I know I am). In the meantime, we can probably improve the efficiency of the current setup by cleaning out the filter. I knocked the dust loose on the sides and blew air through it on Monday, and again today after emptying a pretty full bottom canister. Based on past comments, it sounds like the filter really needs to be pulled and cleaned properly. I’ve never done that before, so I’m not sure how involved the process is.
