I’m looking for a couple smooth un-creased slabs of corrugated cardboard at least 36 inches square to use as a test run for my CNC router project.
Anyone know where I could find this?
I’m willing to pay if it’s reasonably priced.
What better excuse do you need to go out and buy yourself a big TV?
check the cardboard recycle bin out back
If you can drive up to Round Rock, TexanBox is your best bet.
They sell cardboard in sheets up to 4’x8’ single ply or double. I’ve bought a bunch of sheets from them over the years for large laser projects. You buy online and pick up at a warehouse*
*I bought from the Metric Ave Austin location that has closed.
Jerry’s Artarama might also have cardboard or chip board that size.
also half price boxes on Research Blvd.
Warehouse stores like Costco that sell merchandise from pallets accumulate a lot of large pieces of cardboard that are used to separate layers of the products on the pallets. When I wanted large pieces of cardboard, I walked up and down the isles and collected as many sheets as I could carry and just walked out with them. It is easy to get into Costco without a membership. They let you in if you tell the door keeper that you are going to the pharmacy, because the pharmacy is open to the public. It is very easy to get in by tailgating members at the entrance. Just walk behind a few people who are together and the door keeper always assumes that you are shopping with them. They let you shop if you have a Costco gift card, and I always carry one with a small balance. (With a small gift card you can buy almost anything in the store by paying the difference between the amount of the gift card and the amount of the purchase.)
Grainger carries large sheets of cardboard, they have 2 locations in Austin
Thanks for all the great ideas!
Special thanks to @LloydEwing for the Costco infiltration strategies! ![]()
