I have a few pieces of thick acrylic to cut — approximately 3/4". They’re only a few inches in width/length, so the laser’s precision is ideal vs. cutting it with other tools.
Do our lasers accommodate a clean cut for this depth?

I haven’t done it myself, but I think I’ve heard of Tarkin cutting 1" acrylic. If the machine is at full performance, I believe it should be able to cut 3/4" no problem. Tagging a few folks that should know @dannym @jamesfreeman
Also, here’s a dramatic movie trailer style video for Tarkin from when we first brought it online. It shows cutting 1/2" acrylic with ease.
I’ve cut 3/4 with no problem on Tarkin.
Thank y’all for the quick replies!
I’ve also cut 0.5 in / 12mm easily on Tarkin. I have no doubts it can handle 18mm+ fairly well.
As with most extra thick materials, though, be aware that you might not get a perfectly-consistent perpendicular edge. Sometimes the material/vapors/etc divert the laser’s energy a bit, and the beam also widens as you get further from the focal point.
If you don’t need ultra-precise joinery between edges straight off the laser, probably not a big deal. Just be aware and probably best to test before making major cuts in presumably-expensive material.
Hmm good to know. It’s for an architectural model so it does need to be fairly precise but I’ve built in some testing into this stock material. Fingers crossed!
