this is the mechanism for locking the windows on my trailer (which hinge up from the top) open at various angles. what the heck is this called? need to know not bc of an RV repair but bc I need a similar assembly for solar panels which will hang directly down and be propped up at various angles up to 90°, and I have no idea what the heck to search for.
I’d look up lifting hinge, or if you want gas assist the look up gas lifting strut. Or folding hinge works too
no luck with various spins on this phraseology, unfortunately.
In my 2016 Airstream with the same windows, they call them “window prop” or “window positioner” parts. Check out the Airstream parts guides and search for the part numbers in google and you’ll find folks who sell them.
Here’s the 2016 parts guide, see page 104 for the parts list: https://www.airstream.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/2016-travel-trailer-flying-cloud-parts-book-339.pdf#page104
Woodland Airstream has pretty much every part for every Airstream ever. Here’s a list of window parts that includes a lot of the parts you’ll see in there: Window Hardware – Woodland Airstream Parts and RV Accessories Store
Some casement windows have a similar mechanism but usually a crank.
