Welcoming Mikey Huff as Asmbly’s New Program Manager! :clapping:

When we first mentioned the new Program Manager role as a position we would be hiring for in the near future, we heard from several people within and outside the Asmbly community who were very interested. We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve found an excellent fit for this position within the Asmbly community who will be starting in a few weeks on 10/28.

Please join me in welcoming Mikey Huff as Asmbly’s Program Manager! :tada: Mikey is no stranger to our community — he’s currently our leatherworking instructor and has a deep passion for nonprofit work, education, and creating.

As Program Manager, Mikey will oversee three key pillars that are critical to Asmbly’s growth and impact:

:small_blue_diamond: Education

:small_blue_diamond: Membership

:small_blue_diamond: Outreach

What will Mikey do?

This role is a balance of coordination, creation, and outreach. Mikey will:

  • Coordinate with staff like the Education Coordinator and Membership Coordinator to ensure our programs and services run smoothly.

  • Create new opportunities for learning and making by developing fresh classes and bringing in specialized workshops to explore new areas of interest that align with our community’s passions and needs.

  • Outreach to engage new audiences, working alongside our Outreach team to promote Asmbly through events and partnerships, especially with underrepresented groups and educational organizations.

With his nonprofit background, leadership skills, and love for teaching, Mikey is ready to lead Asmbly into a new era of programming and community building. Here’s some of the exciting work he’s looking forward to:

  • Spearheading programs for kids, expanding our education outreach to a younger audience.

  • Adding jewelry-making classes, a great fit for our space that can easily cross pollinate with every shop area.

  • Developing new strategies to reach different demographics and grow our membership.

More about Mikey

Mikey’s experience and passion run deep. While he’s a skilled photographer and currently manages a photography team, his true calling lies in nonprofit work and mentoring. He founded a nonprofit in Alaska to assist people experiencing homelessness and has served as a mentor in several capacities, including his current work with Big Brothers Big Sisters. His heart for helping others aligns perfectly with Asmbly’s mission, and we can’t wait to see the impact he’ll make as our Program Manager.

Join us in welcoming Mikey to this exciting new role! We’re confident he’ll help make Asmbly an even more vibrant, inclusive, and creative community, expanding opportunities and access for people in Austin to pursue their creative passions. We’re even expanding the Education Team to help support this growth (learn more here).
