Welcoming Cam as Director of IT :onit:

Volunteers are a crucial part of Asmbly’s operations and one of the backbone teams of our org is the IT Team. Several core volunteers help ensure our IT systems stay connected, functioning, and improving to better meet member needs on a regular basis. @cam has been a longtime contributor to that team and I’m excited to announce he is stepping up to fill the volunteer role of Director of IT!

Cam is among the many software engineers in the Asmbly community and has been a manager at Cisco Meraki (networking, wifi routers) for the last 3 years leading a DevOps team. Leading up to that, he spent about 10 years as a software engineer (more specifically site reliability engineer) at Facebook and Duo. He’s been an active contributor on the Asmbly IT Team for the past year fixing bugs in core Neon integrations, adding logs for automations to make debugging easier, and actively contributing to discussions on ideas for our IT operations.

We started discussing the Director of IT role over six months ago, and Cam took a very thoughtful approach to the commitment. He wanted to ensure he had the bandwidth to give it his attention and balance the timing to leave space for his wedding (4/4/26) and beginning newly wed life :clinking_glasses: Even still, he stayed active with the team throughout that time and is excited to get going with the role now. His goals for IT at Asmbly is to make it easier for people to use the space and do the things — “technology should be an enabler rather than something that gets in their way.”

Please join me in welcoming Cam into this leadership role! I’m excited to continue working together to improve the daily experience with digital systems! :teamwork:
