Volunteer at Maker Camp 2026!

Want to be part of Asmbly Maker Camp this summer? We’re looking for volunteers!

Maker Camp was loved last year by students and parents. We couldn’t have pulled it off without the help of our incredible community. We are opening up volunteering again this year! If you enjoy working with kids, we’d love to have you on the team.

What volunteering looks like:

  • Supporting campers as they work through hands-on projects

  • Helping with behavior management and keeping the energy positive

  • Being a friendly, encouraging presence throughout the day

  • Giving campers affirmation and celebrating what they build

No specific shop expertise is required. (If you do have shop skills and want to help teach, we’d love to talk about that too.)

A few things to know before you sign up:

We ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of 20 hours across the 8 weeks of camp, since there is an administrative cost to background checks and training. All volunteers are required to consent to a background check and attend one training session.

And if you’re able to go above and beyond, there are some great perks:

  • Commit to 80+ hours? We’ll cover your First Aid/CPR training registration fee if you’d like it (totally optional, but a great skill to have).

  • Parent of a camper-aged kid? Commit to 50+ hours and get a free camp registration for your child. No limit, if you want to send them to multiple camps, we’ll make it work.

  • All volunteer hours are eligible to trade in for Asmbly memberships.

Ready to get involved? Fill out the volunteer interest form here: :backhand_index_pointing_right: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeNr_uPG0njEBjnp4CIAW_iJrU9NRd30En4Z_08qoiQfujBag/viewform?usp=header

Questions? Reach out to us directly. We’re happy to tell you more about what a week at camp looks like and see where you’d fit in best.

We can’t wait to build something great together this summer!

We would also love help passing out pur print media flyers to coffee shops, board game stores, libraries, and anywhere else it makes sense to post these. We have already passed out around 350 flyers at events, tabling, and some shops. Please feel free to grab a few notecards from the lobby and pass them along!

Just reading about your perks. I think all the instructors and volunteers should be First aid/CPR trained. If you happen to have an incident, you will find out how cheap it is to have that training and the assurance that anybody can react. As a non-profit you should be able to get free classes for that. Reach out to the fire departments and the city. If you need a minimum number of attendees open it to the members. Just my 3 pennies you may already be doing just that.

Hey Jose, I’m always happy to share more details about the camps. We have all camp staff fully trained and certified so that we always have certified leaders with each group. The teachers and volunteers who are dropping in and out for a couple hours at a time to help don’t need full certifications, but will have training in youth protection, incident awareness, and responses (as well as background checks).

I just was talking about the first aid/CPR class. As I said I’m sure you follow the normal state/federal rules when it comes to youth related activities.
