Vcarve for CNC

I was onsite this morning and brought three files I’d created at home with the trial version (VCarve Pro Trial Edition 12.5).

I brought the files to the Laguna Swift CNC via USB drive and tried to open them on the computer there. I got the following message:

VCarve Pro - Makerspace Edition

File written by Trial Version on a different machine

The file being loaded was written by the Trial Version of the software on a different computer.

To prevent abuse of the trial version, the full version wil onlyload files from the trial version that were written on the same computer.

If you believe you are seeing this message on the same computer you created the files on, please contact Vectric at support@vectric.com

Did I not follow the instructions from class correctly? Do I need to go about this differently?

Or has Vectric changed how this works?

Because of this issue, I got nothing done during my 2.5 hour time with the Swift CNC.

I would appreciate any assistance.

Assuming you have your home version tied to Asmbly makerspace license, this usually happens when you forget to login on your home system.

Not sure how you tried to open the file, but if I try to open a VCarve file directly from a USB (clicking on the usb name then clicking on the file) I get that msg, but if I log in to my VCarve account then open the file from within Vcarve (clicking on Open an Existing File) it usually works

Chanda,
Thanks very much for a quick and substantive response!!

Oh, my, that’s one of those cases of having to hold your mouth just right to do something. I look forward to getting a new time and trying that.
If it’s that persnickety, perhaps we should have it documented somewhere–maybe even a note pasted to the edge of the monitor! (Or did I just not notice it?)

Thank you!!
Bruce

You’ll also want to make sure you are signed in to the software at home.
