The board is working to modernize our policies, one such update is to the discipline policy. In the past, we relied on a very simple disciplinary framework. The new policy is based on the same framework with several upgrades. It is important to emphasize that escalation beyond a warning is extremely rare; however, a clear formal process protects both the individual and the community.
Highlights:
- Three tier disciplinary framework, just like the old policy.
- Defined levels of authority for each disciplinary level.
- Pathways for appeal in certain situations.
- Clearly empowering staff to take safety related actions immediately.
- Creation of committee for complex issues.
How to Report Issues: If you witness a safety concern or a serious policy violation, please report it to a staff member, volunteer leader, or email people@asmbly.org.
