As a young, growing organization, we regularly try new things to see what works and how we might further expand our offerings and capabilities. Our space has dramatically changed for the better in the last 4 years as a result. Part of growing up also involves learning and adjusting our approach, and we’re now refining our strategy regarding some of our staffing roles.
At the beginning of this year, we created our very first full-time position — General Manager. This role was broad, encompassing a wide range of tasks, from maintaining the physical space to overseeing our program offerings. Over the course of the year, we’ve realized that to achieve our long-term goals, including expanding and eventually owning our own space, we need to prioritize more specialized roles with focused skill sets.
Looking ahead, the board and I have decided to shift our focus toward hiring for different roles that better align with our evolving needs. We will no longer have a General Manager, as we believe this new approach with specialized roles will better support our growth and operational needs. We’re currently developing a job posting for a new Facilities Coordinator role, which will be responsible for the day-to-day, boots-on-the-ground tasks that keep our shops running smoothly. In the coming months, we hope to be hiring for a second role focused on program and education development.
Although Shane will no longer be serving as our General Manager, I’m happy to share that he will remain a member and steward at Asmbly. We’re grateful for his contributions, and Asmbly is better for having had him as part of our leadership.
We understand that change can bring up a variety of feelings and concerns, and we’re committed to addressing them thoughtfully. We encourage anyone with questions or feedback to share them directly with us. We’re here to listen and to work together in a way that supports our collective goals and the well-being of our community.
Thank you for your understanding and for being part of Asmbly.
