Several of us recently noticed that the tool racks are not holding the tools very well and some tools have fallen off the wall. My best guess is the upper portion of the rack holds the tool with a foam rubber type of insert and that foam is degrading with use. My solution is a wooden rack that corrects the initial problem and moves some tools from the drawer marked Speciality Tools to the new racks. These also allow for better labeling and organization.
On Monday I built a prototype of a rack and mounted it above Ernie, This new rack accommodates 14 tools of various sizes and gives us an opportunity to label and better organize these tools. This rack is version 0.0 and the next version will be a better build quality and add a few more features. One other feature we can add it to is code each tool with a label that gives members more information about the tool (name, best application, any cautions, sharpening cues, etc).
