Update on the Reclaim Program
Hi everyone,
We’ve made some changes to how reclaim is handled in the ceramics studio, and we want to make sure everyone’s in the loop. Here’s what’s new:
-
No More Volunteer-Run Reclaim
Reclaim will no longer be processed by volunteers. -
Unwanted Clay Buckets
Instead of separate slop buckets, we now just have Unwanted Clay buckets. Everything goes in there, and when they’re full, the contents will be taken to the dumpster. -
Two Buckets at a Time
Only two buckets will be out. They’re lined with garbage bags, and heavier-duty liners are on the way. -
Extra Liners
In case the heavy-duty liners haven’t arrived yet, extra bags are available by the sink where the tools are stored. Please use those if needed. -
Fill Line
Each bucket has a line marking the max limit (like the dust collector in the woodshop). If your slop reaches that line, just pull out the bag, take it to the dumpster, and replace it with a new liner. -
No Extra Buckets
Please don’t put out more buckets when the two in use are full. -
Dumpster Access
The current dumpster outside is a little tall, so tossing in heavy bags can be tricky — but still doable. We’re looking into whether a shorter one is possible. -
Self-Reclaim
Members are encouraged to do their own reclaim. Hardie boards are available outside for this. -
Storage
We won’t be providing extra space for reclaim projects. If you’re leaving clay to dry overnight, please make sure it fits on your shelf.
Thanks for helping keep the studio running smoothly and for adapting with us as we fine-tune this system!
