I’m turning this treadle sewing machine table into an entryway table and I need help creating/finding a unique table top. The base is 12" x 24" but I’d like the top to be closer to 14" x 36". Thoughts?
Sarah, I made a mesquite and epoxy top for a similar base. See attached.
Thanks! Steve

Ooh yes that is very pretty. And I love that mesquite is native.
@Sarah - I have a few pieces of mesquite that I can contribute to this cause, if you’d like
Omg probably!
@LivingOnTheEdgeKupec @stepho how can we make this happen?.
If you are interested in mesquite - I’ve got several pieces to choose from in southwest austin .
Sarah, I am heading out of town for 2+ weeks on Sat, 1/11, so I am not currently available to help.
That said, I can loan you some of my mdf forms to make the table top frame.
I have a slew of mica pigments and India ink you can look at using too to dye the epoxy.
You will need the Mesquite wood first and then work that in to your desired dimensions (I would go longer than you want to account for cut offs at each end and also consider the thickness as epoxy is $$$) as well as de-bark it and plane it, build the form to fit that wood, seal the form with silicon caulk and then compute how much epoxy to get. (You can use rice grains to get a volume given you won’t have a straight edge to do the x * y * z volumetric measure.)
If you don’t have space for the 2-3 days for the epoxy to cure, we can do it in my garage.
Again, all of that will have to be after I get back from So Colorado.
Thanks! Steve
