Two glue up tables, five work tables, and…

…one junk table. All it needs is some takeout menus, plastic cutlery, and a few sauce packets.

If April fools were coming up, I would put all of those asks on the table.

But since it’s not, and seems those have been there a few days (and I have not heard anything about why) when I’m in later I can move those things to scrap or trash

That is a product of not having a dedicated CNC worktable. stuff accumulates near the cnc tool boxes and people don’t want to throw it out.

On this topic for a more comprehensive solution I think rotating the CNC to face the bay door should be talked about. better loading and unloading of materials. currently it is awkward to load sheets. this would make it so much easier.
Also if you add a small worktable for people’s laptops and the cnc tools. you eliminate half a workshop table always being used as a desk. Powered worktable is best so you can charge your laptop and not have the secondary vacuum cord in the walkways.

We had a discussion this weekend, and there is a plan in place that addresses these concerns.

The idea is to move the storage areas away from the CNC again and relocate the cnc closer to the roll up door. The orientation will remain the same, as having the workspace in the loading walkway isn’t great. However, with nothing between the roll up door and the CNC machine, side loading will be possible. It also leaves the non cable and water chiller side away from the door, so you wouldnt be loading over them.

A workstation will be figured out after.

If you pivot the machine, you will still have 30in after the edge of the control before you are in the walkway. Either way is better than current though. let me know if you guys need help on the worktable

@EricP As James mentioned, there are big changes coming to the wood shop starting with a new dust collector and rearranging of power tools. Part of these improvements are for the CNC’s workflow.

We ask for continued patience and support as we continue to design and implement these improvements for all our members.
