Hello! As the nights grow (slightly) cooler and hanging up freshly washed aprons feels more like hanging up stockings at the mantel, I begin to wonder at how lucky each person will feel opening their handmade gifts in the upcoming holiday season. Our filling kiln shelves are bursting with items that will be handed from one to another and perhaps a few gifts for ourselves. The studio was magical this evening as our members toiled away making special things for special people in our community.
My work today, adding a new mop head to a busted mop (We must get better at mop etiquette! And with those wonderfully made signs by Nick Emerson, who wouldn’t?). I sat under the light glow of my computer screen making signs for our new dipping glazes (another gift from Nick, Stanton, Jade, and whomever else I’m missing) and sent purchase requests to Robert Szabo like writing a letter to Santa. Anyway, you’ll find me outside on the steps sipping late night tea or warm apple cider soon enough. Thank you all for making our Ceramics Space the place I want to be this holiday! Hope to see you in the studio soon! -Elizabeth
