Tuesdays in #ceramics

Hi friends! Enjoyed another steward shift here at the #ceramics studio on Tuesday. It was a lot of getting things reorganized after what must have been a thrilling weekend with GACA and within our membership ranks! So much clay! Everywhere! I got to meet Nicole and check out some of her awesome wheel pieces. Here she is showing off the piece I was most excited about (still trying to achieve something like this for myself). Nicole let me know that when working with this piece it had thinning walls and she had to rescue it, and she sure did! Here’s proof that it’s not the hand you’re dealt, but how you play it that really matters. Thanks for sharing with me, Nicole! If ya’ll are ever lost with what to do with the 5 extra minutes of cleaning you agree to with each booking session, here’s some ideas of what to tackle AFTER cleaning up your personal space

  1. Wiped down your worktable? Wipe down all the worktables!

  2. Mopped up the area around your wheel? Ride on through the studio with that mop and clean this puppy up!

  3. Washed down some of your tools? Restock these tools and the rest of the tools in the drying rack!

  4. Cleaned off a bat? Find other bats that need cleaned and add them to your dish pile!

  5. Sponged off your wareboard? Find others and do the same!

  6. Clayed up your apron? Take a quick sponge to it to get it ready for the next guy!

As always, I love being here and being a part of what makes this place special (ALL OF US). Let’s continue to contribute a little sweat equity and get stuff done!

Thank you for all the extra help with the big exciting GACA weekend and aftermath! These are really great reminders for everyone about various small tasks that are easy to pick up as part of that extra communal cleaning commitment we all make as members to keep the space enjoyable for everyone.

Also, awesome piece Nicole!
