Tuesdays in Ceramics: A Shabby Substitute

Hello All!

Our MVP of Tuesday Steward-on-Duty shifts (@EEatx) was Steward-off-Duty tonight (hopefully out enjoying the evening or simply savoring a well-earned respite). So, the Ceramics Studio was stuck with a shabby substitute (me).

Nick led an intrepid crew of stoneware shapers in a one-off wheel class. Drying times shift with the seasons, but soon the fruits of these prodigious potters will be ready for trimming and grace the greenware shelf—awaiting their first firing.

Robby has valiantly volunteered his time to aid in assimilating automation at Asmbly. He dropped by the studio to discuss code that could finally quell the chaos of member shelf assignments. I dusted off my long-dormant designs for crafting a QR code system for shelf selection. In a favorable twist of fate, Robby rediscovered some forgotten tilework of his own making— a happy homecoming for his prodigal project.

Meanwhile, the sinks were sunk, but soon shone after some spongework. The floors were flooded and, in due turn, dried. Glazes were glanced over and shelves restocked. Bats bore wings and flew back to their rightful roosts.

To close the evening, I wandered into the woodshop, where I tracked the trajectory of our soon-to-be glazing tables. The pace of progress is palpitating—prescient pin me not, but completion comes close… give it another week or two.

Signing off, Stanton
