I was able to repair the second mod vise. It looks rough, but it is still servicable IMO.
If your not using the the mod vise, please place the hardware in the 3d printed holder (pictured). This helps keep the hardware from getting lost, and the vice from getting beaten up in the drawer. I’ll try to print a second holder soon.
We really should figure out some better curriculum for this. There’s a couple of safe defaults in CAM that make colliding with these nearly impossible. The bottom of your workpiece is always 1.000” above the plate, which can be a probed reference surface. And always, always set your CAM bottom heights to a minimum of .190” above stock bottom, and you will never touch the jaws.
