Fellow CNCers,
We have created a new CNC event for 2026: a once-a-month, zero-signup, “show up and learn cool CNC stuff” meetup! The event will be at Asmbly at 7pm at the CNC machines on Friday, January 9th at 7pm. Beforehand, whoever wants to socialize can meet at Buddy’s Burger at 5:30pm for the “optional but highly encouraged hangout,” because nothing builds community like burgers & people arguing about stepover percentages.
We were inspired by the CNC Salon and captain @SteveW, and now we’re aiming to sprinkle some of that magic into monthly projects at the CNC itself.
Our first project of 2026 will be led by @rjnevels. Robby has graciously offered to share with us how to build out a topographical map in real time. He’s done this before–in fact, he’s presented this project at a prior CNC SIG this year. See below.
I think we’re all eager to figure out how to do this so we can show people, and then they’ll believe us when we say we go outside.
Remember, No sign-up, no pressure, no homework.
Just show up, learn something new, and get inspired for your next project. Now…let’s build out a topo map, of your mom!
See you there!
