Tool box paint?

I’m taking a class at ACC where I’m making a bunch of tool boxes (Intermediate Layout & Fabrication: Ferrous Sheet Metal). What’s the best paint option for a durable finish that will chip and scratch as little as possible when actually filled with tools?

I’ve tried to research this online, but AI slop and SEO spam are making it hard to find a discussion of the options and tradeoffs.

So far I’ve put on a Rustoleum primer and some acrylic paint: Montana GOLD Acrylic Professional Spray Paints | Jerry's Artarama

Not totally relavent, but project farm did some testing on what spray paint brands were best. This guy does so much helpful testing. https://youtu.be/5FP70exEpQQ?si=Gl2V8Xn8Ku6WZ5uJ

I would also check out some automotive undercoatings. These are thicker rubber-ish type spray paints that may be good for the inside.

Maybe also check out “Plasti Dip”.

These look great!

I like appliance enamel. I think it is harder coating. The con is the colors are limited

Unfortunately for me, the color is important. I had to go to Jerry’s Artarama to get a color I liked because the options at Home Depot were lackluster. So I may need to focus on clearcoats.

Oh, yeah, I’m supporting Project Farm on Patreon. Thanks for reminding me of that awesome resource! The BB and scratch tests in that video are helpful.
