The Scraps Headboard

A few folks have asked for pictures of the scraps headboard project, and it’s finally done.

Our guest bed is in front of a window, so we wanted a very low headboard – something to keep pillows out of the window shade without covering half the window. After striking out at a few furniture places we decided to just make one.

We resawed 3/4 ash leftovers down to ~3/8 and glued it up parquet-style on a scrap of 1/2" plywood sheathing left over from… something. I think the edge band is aspen.

The rounded corners are modeled on some old furniture photos Diana found. They’re segmented miters, trimmed using a corner template I cut out on Pearl from cart scrap.

It’s attached to the bed with steel plate sticks from the drops bin at Westbrook. Between that and a pack of T-nuts from Home Depot, the total materials cost was about $9
