Please Join Us at the Texas Urban Sawmill for this unique Community Public Open House!

Event is May 20th from 11am to 2pm at the Texas Urban Sawmill in Dripping Springs, TX 78620!

Join us for a day of family fun, education, and community awareness, co-sponsored by the Texas A&M Forest Service and the Austin Habitat for Humanity.

Highlights of the event include:

  1. Sawmill Demonstrations: Witness the incredible Woodmizer WM1000 and Baker BlueStreak sawmills in action. Get a unique glimpse into the world of urban and rescued tree sawyers. Peak inside the soul of a tree! (~Noon & ~1pm)
  2. Tree Rescue and Utilization: Texas Urban Sawmill will showcase their USDA Forest Service Wood Innovations Grant project. The donated lumber provides financial support for affordable housing projects by the Austin Habitat for Humanity and Texas A&M Forest Service efforts to maintain the tree canopy across Texas. (~12:30pm)
  3. Hill Country Wildfire Education: Learn about wildfire risks and mitigation strategies from the Texas A&M Forest Service. Discover the “Mechanical Fuels” grant program for Texas landowners to reduce fire hazards on their properties. (~1pm)
  4. Clearance Sale: Don’t miss our exclusive discounts of 50-75% on lumber and live edge slabs. Help us make space for our 2024 lumber efforts. (11am – 2pm)
  5. Climate Smart Products™: Learn More and Explore our sustainable wood products and their impact on reducing waste and maximizing carbon storage. (11am-2pm)

Everyone is welcome to attend this exciting event! Please note that the sawmill is a working site, and children must be supervised by adults. Restrooms and water will be provided.

Thanks for posting. This was fun! They have a lot of slabs, lumber, and odd ends, and they also sell some of that through the local Habitat Restores, so you don’t have to drive all the way to Dripping. It’s worth a stop if you’re out there, though.
