Tarkin today

Laser is great ! Did have a question - posting here and trouble ticket just in case its not user error on my part .
Used tarkin today to engrave a board and it everything went well. Once it was finished it came back to the the first letter of my engraving and started moving up and down - I stopped it from lightburn.

I thought it may be my file (just a trace from an image) and tried it with a letter I put in from font - it did the same.
I don’t know anything about settings on the laser ( nothing was touched) and little about lightburn settings ( I just open the program and use it ) .
Video is of the last bit of engraving before it shifts , picture is after i stopped it .
(can’t load the video - ping me and I can text or email

The “number of passes” option under the power and speed in light burn is likely your culprit here. If not this, it’s likely another odd setting like for crosshatching etc.

When cutting thicker wood, folks often run multiple passes to let the workpiece cool down and char less.

Easiest way to ensure you aren’t carrying someone else’s weird settings over on light burn is to restart the computer attached to the laser. It is configured to wipe settings back to default every restart.

Additional data in support of this idea from Danny on the stewards channel for problem reports:

“the user has set “crosshatch” in the raster in Lightburn’s layer settings.”

Thanks ! I got that from Danny as well. Unfortunately I couldn’t verify . It definitely wasn’t # of passes .
If Danny’s explanation is the case - how can I/we make sure that’s not the default setting in lightburn ?
I’m not an everyday user - but have used some and never had this issue .
Thanks !

Check last paragraph in my earlier reply. In short: reset the PC, it wipes lightburn’s settings.

thank you
