State of the Woodshop: Felder RL350

Hello Asmblers!
First and foremost, a huge shoutout to everyone who showed up this weekend and made it happen. As they say: many hands make light work, and several thousand pounds of steel sure didn’t feel very heavy at all.

Just a few notes from our action packed weekend.
The woodshop loading area cannot be used as project storage. Thanks for your patience on this. Project storage will reopen soon, and the glue up tables are available as normal.

CNC is red-tagged for 1-2 more days. A new standalone dust collector is on the way, and the spoil board is slated to be replaced.

The dust collector must be manually turned on and off until we get our new sensors installed. While our brand new Felder RL350 is pretty hard to miss, the power switch is a little easier to overlook. It is the small toggle switch on the right side of the new dust collector (closest to the rollup door).

After turning on the Felder, the blast gates must be manually opened and closed at each tool. The good news is they’re well within arms reach! In the next 2-3 weeks we’ll have automatic dust gates like the previous system, but for now please keep them closed when not in use.

Suction is greatly improved throughout the whole shop. If you notice a lot of dust or chips at a tool, it probably means its blast gate is closed. If the blast gate is open and the Felder is on, you will know.

Please do not move Sawstop #2. The miter slots do not line up with our current outfeed table but please resist the urge to move anything. Miter slots on Sawstop #1 are still aligned and usable.

Thanks for your patience during this exciting upgrade, and as always please report anything that doesn’t seem right at Asmbly.org/problem
