So i cannot sew to any great degree (or have time or money to take classes and do it myself) so i was wanting to known if anyone knows if my request is feasible.
I’m just starting to flesh out my own displays for craft shows and i was wanting a particular color of tray insert ( for like rings and stuff) but cannot find them in the color i wanted in the size i plan on using. If i get the fabric and the inserts in a color i dont want, is it worth anyones time(that id pay for!) to reupholster in the fabric that i pick out?
Hi Emma! Would you be able to share pictures of the trays? The easiest/cheapest way to go might be to buy felt in a color you like and cut to size to line the trays. Then there’s no sewing involved.
Its the ring inserts that i was more conserned with sewing skills. I think its essentially foam rollers with velvet sewed arround them that looks simple in concept with the power of a sewing machine but i have zero experience to say if it actually is easy or not
Having spelunked in to the depths of cyber shopping for longer than necisarry, im realizing that some of these foam ring holders appear to foam sheet with velvet glued on which is something i can do, theoretically. I think i remember there being cutting shears to borrow at the textile room general reservation space?
The scissors we currently have in textiles are of mixed sharpness and condition. As shop tools are hard used, we don’t really have any properly “fabric only” scissors. When I work on fabric, I bring my own scissors.
Pro tip: Even cheap scissors can work for fabric, just as long as you never use them to cut anything else.
Considering the fact my dad will walk over, grab the sicisors designated as fabric, and use them to open packages, that is something that will never exist in this house.
