A few months back when we bought the miter saw, I also bought a dust collector attachment made by Shop Nation.
I installed it today and it should significantly improve the amount of dust collected from that miter saw.
That means a few things. Please remember to check the Shop-Vac underneath and ensure it is not full. Otherwise it won’t be of any use and will be allowed for no reason. Additionally, make sure there are no little chunks being sucked into this hose. The OEM desk shoot was regularly clogged by little chunks which rendered it useless. Always look and check to make sure there is suction. If you hear any extra high-pitched noises, that likely means the Shop-Vac can’t actually draw air and it will end up making that motor work harder, again for nothing.
If you see an excess amount of dust flying at you, there’s a good chance it’s clogged.
I tested it with about a 2-in thick, 4 in wide, piece of hardwood and had hardly any dust in the air.
That said, we can’t ever completely eliminate the dust, so make sure to always clean up well after yourself. Check the area behind the miter saw now and then and clean up any residual dust that ends up back there.
The OEM parts are in the shop Nation box in the gray Steward cabinet. Just in case we ever need to revert. As long as this works well for a few weeks, I’m happy to toss that box completely
