Quest night is approaching and our organization “Scare For a Cure”, a DND styled larp event where all proceeds go toward Breast cancer resources, and support.
We are in desperate need of volunteers, we don’t have enough actors to help put on the events.
If we don’t get enough volunteers to fill acting roles we may have to cancel nights.
If anybody is able to help out as an actor, a tech, or even just help with parking. Do let us know.
If you can help even for a single night please let us know, and sign up with this form so we can see what we can do. And please share this with anybody you think may be interested.
As you very well know, our little makerspace has been the forge from which many pieces of stagecraft have been created for Scare for a Cure productions over the years. For example, this year we have been mass-producing gold and silver tokens on the ASMBLY lasers, among several other projects.
We’d love to see more ASMBLY folk come out to join the fun. It really is a truly unique interactive theater production.
It sounds like a great event! I’m not physically capable of helping, but I wish you all the best of luck. Could you share pictures of what y’all are making?
Thanks, @stepho. Don’t worry, totally understand if you have limitations on helping, but FWIW, we do have roles available on run nights that are very accessible, and some can finish up much earlier than the full show length. For example, we have roles involved in checking in guests, selling merch, and serving food to hungry volunteers, etc. It takes an army of all kinds.
As for sharing some of what we’re making, here’s a sneak preview of parts that I CNC’d last night for an epic-sized prop…
Can’t give away too many spoilers, but let’s just say these are components of a long-forgotten mysterious tomb, which might hold the key to saving the realm… dun dun DUNNNNN!
Last night was our soft-open night — the show went great, but we expect 3x the number of
guests tonight and we’re definitely short on volunteers! Please consider joining the fun backstage, or acting as a monster or NPC. Not all roles are highly physical, and not all roles require staying all night.
Here’s the official info blurb from our President, Susan Pratt:

Volunteers needed!
Scare for a Cure needs volunteers to help put on our Quest Night event. No experience is necessary. Show up around 5:00 pm and the show runs until midnight. We will feed you dinner- beef or vegan stroganoff tonight, and supply snacks, costume and cokes and water. Dress in black with comfortable closed toe shoes, bring renn faire garb if you have some, and a water bottle. You will be helping us staff dungeons and dragons type quests.
Scare for a Cure operates behind the Ghost Town near Manor, at 14219 Littig Road, Manor, Texas. Go past the first two drives and come down the third. There is a small sign. Check in at the Joan Pratt Grub Shack (look for a big sign on top of the building).
First weekend went very well, now we do it two more times… and we always need more volunteers to join the party.
Here’s the latest official info from our casting director about Weekend 2:

Saturday 4/9
-Call time 5PM
-Dress in black (or approved Renn gear)
-Doesn’t look like its gonna get as cold but bring an extra layer just in case
Hope you all had a restful week and are ready to be amazing this weekend!

In practice, what you want to bring depends on the kinds of roles you are interested in. Dillon will try to match you to a best fit. If you want to stay backstage, just dress in black. If you want to act as an NPC, bring some faire garb (when he says “approved Renn gear”, that basically just means generic garb that would be common at Sherwood Forest Faire, etc).
This is our final weekend of the show. It’s been a wild ride, but we’re on track for one of our most successful shows ever. We always need volunteers, though – and a holiday weekend might be extra tricky.
