Sawstop Override

What is the procedure to access the SawStop override key? I just blew $200 cutting treated wood because there was no one who could/would get me the override key. I was aware it was a risk, so I can’t complain, but I’d like to know the procedure so I can plan ahead. Don’t think saying no override is allowed is viable. That is tantamount to saying you cannot cut fresh wood or treated wood. Maybe a reasonable solution is only when a wood shop steward is available.

Thanks,

Clay

Hi Clay,

I see that Art already replied to you in the other thread, but I did just want to add: yes we generally disallow the processing of treated lumber at Asmbly. Not only because of the high moisture content but the increased risk of airborne irritants in a communal space. We do allow use of the override key on a case by case basis—this would best be discussed with one of the woodshop leads.
