Repository for Broken Small Tools

I am requesting that if you break a small tool (or discover one already broken), especially drill bits, please place that tool in the labeled bin on the open shelf on the mobile wire rack shelf in the metal shop stewards area (near the compressor), as shown here:

.

Right now, if a bit or other small tool is missing, I have no idea if it was discarded as broken, simply misplaced, or even stolen. By putting them here, I can learn what happened to this tool and what needs replacing.

This is particularly important for drill bits. Most bits break at the tip, and these can be repaired using our Drill Doctor. Don’t discard something that can be easily salvaged!

In addition, please use this bin for any loose hardware pieces you find on the ground or on tables. Most of this will be random pieces dropped from someone’s project, but sometimes they are crucial hardware pieces that fell off of one of our machines. I can discard any junk easily enough, but some innocuous seeming bolts and nuts are actually important and difficult to replace specialty hardware pieces.

If you have time, use the tape and pen in the bin to attach a note about the object, like the size for a drill bit or end mill, or where it was found for loose hardware items.

Thanks!
