I am abundantly skilled in the textiles dept but, wanted to see if someone might be that could help me out.
I have an outdoor patio sofa where the cushions are old and worn. The couch is older and I can’t find replacement or suitable analogs of the cushion covers given it’s a bit of a unique shape. In maker fashion, I thought, can it be made??
Let me know if anyone would be willing to guide me through this or would be up for being contracted to do this. Please and thank yous! (Pic attached)
Thank you for the replay @sknodl. You are totally right about 4/8 of the cushions. I think it is hard to see in the photo, but the side cushions are more of a trapezoidal shape (if i recall my geometry correctly, haha) making those the most difficult ones and the back ends accordingly have a taper going into the corners to accommodate. I have zero experience sewing (including the jucko). Perused around on sailrite for a bit, thank you for that resource. I will definitely check that out further to see if I can figure out a good game plan. After more deliberation with my partner, we are going to try another round of deep cleaning and repair on them to see if we can salvage first, but I may come back to you if that doesn’t work to take you up on helping me get started. Appreciate it!
Thanks for pointing out the trapezoids, I don’t these would be a big issue for you either and it made me better realize why these don’t seem tricky. The magic is that all the surfaces are flat.
If there were curves where you had to stretch material or gather it to go around corners that would be trickier.
Also it appears that all the seams are hidden inside the cushions so you have less worries about needing to be perfect in that respect as well.
