I’m on the hunt for shelf uprights (posts) that I can buy somewhere and I plan to make the shelves myself at Asmbly out of wood. I’m having a hard time finding any retailer / supplier online that only sells the posts.
if anyone knows of a good online store to find this type of post (or even better a way to find these in Austin) I’d appreciate the recommendation!

Try looking at post jacks or if theyre too bulky screw jacks that you can hide. You could also adapt pier jacks used in scafolding. Pier jacks would be the budget option as they are sold in sets. Couple them with gas pipe or similar material.
