Problem Reporting

I will spare you the full stories, but I have come across several things in the metal shop that should have been reported by members but were not. Two examples, one minor, one major: 1) Broken tap guides. Not a big deal – we had replacements in storage – but I have to know about the problem in order to put them out! Please report it! 2) Some serious cuts into the Tormach table. The table is absolutely not a spoil board, but it’s starting to look like the CNCs! Yet no one reported the incident. In this case, let me be clear: reporting your mistake may be embarrassing, and might even earn you some rolled eyes or a lecture, but not reporting such an egregious mistake may be grounds for suspending your membership. (The facility cameras will tell us who did it, but expect the people in leadership who had to sift through hours of video footage to find out to be quite grumpy about it.)

Report broken tools. Report incidents where a machine is damaged. Always.

Seconded. I’ll add, don’t be shy in asking for help if you’re uncertain.

I was emailed about the tormach spoil board damage, I can follow up in more detail, but he was educated on better means and will help repair/ replace when if necessary

OK, that largely mitigates that. But please do pass that info on to all metal shop stewards when you can.

Remember, the red QR codes throughout the shop all lead to the same place, so you can use any of them to submit a report! You can also always go directly to asmbly.org/problem.
