This is a rollup of all the problem reports that have come in this past week and what has come of them. If there are related discourse posts, I’ll link them here. If I miss them or if any spawn up after this, feel free to drop a comment. Updates are welcome! Any discussions on particular topics please take to a separate, more targeted, post.
This is the first one, I’d like to do more of these either once a week or every other week if you all find it useful.
Specific names and contact details were removed.
Dorian
- Dorian Y axis not working. Y axis not responding. Could be user error. I think it may have to do with last person using the rotary mode. I switched it to “normal”. Turned on and off
- Resolved. Rotary option was selected in Lightburn. Nick rebooted computer to restore that and any other settings that weren’t default. Thank you @tomthm
Tarkin
- “Out of space” warning on Tarkin. When sending the materials test the panel on Tarkin errors out with a “Out of Space” warning. I’m not sure if this is physical space (I was working aligned to the left, but there was plenty of space. Or some sort storage space. I didn’t spend too much time trying to debug and switched to a different laser. Could have totally been user error.
- Notes from @dannym. “not enough extend space” means a high speed raster is placed too close to the left or right edge of the bed. rasters only fire at constant velocity, the controller plans braking/accel zones on the sides. it needs more the higher speed you ask for. the controller can run out of memory for jobs left stored on it. different message. I wiped the memory recently so highly unlikely this is referring to memory space.
- Excessive flare and reduced power. Tarkin isn’t cutting with its normal level of power and I’m getting a lot of flame. Focus is correct, same plywood as I normally use. I ceased work.
- Fixed within minutes of the report by James and Danny.
Mozaik
- (Mozaik Report 1) Mozaik versions don’t match. The Mozaik version on the Swift PC is older
than the community PC, projects can’t be opened - (Mozaik Report 2) Laguna Swift CNC 5x10. The Swift PC doesn’t have the Mozaik post installed. I left a copy on the desktop
Updates: @jamesfreeman will be checking the software this evening
Belt / Disc Combo Sander - Powermatic.
- Sander belt snapped / broken. It’s only part of the belt, not the whole thing.
- This likely happened due to too much pressure on the belt. Remember that the belt does the sanding for you and adding pressure will not benefit your piece or the paper in the long run. The paper is still fine to use, only the left edge was torn off.
Swift CNC
- Swift dust collection not emptied. A member has been cutting styrofoam and not emptying the dust collector. The bag is half full of styrofoam and the bin is also 1/4 full of styrofoam.
- This member has been notified and reminded of the policy to empty the dust separator and bag after every use. This can be found on our CNC Wiki and is also taught in the CNC class. https://wiki.asmbly.org/index.php?title=Laguna_Swift_Vacuum_CNC#Maintenance
Saw Stop
- I triggered the SawStop. My fault. Let me know how to pay.
- Fortunately the member is okay and it was not anything serious. New blades and breaks can be purchased in our neon store.
Welders
- MIG/TIG Miller Multimatic 220 #2. Argon tank empty 0psi.
Remember that if you spot an issue to make the correction if you know how and to let us know so we can better serve our members.
