POV video for tool instructions

At the CNC SIG yesterday, @bwatt showed his video documenting a new controller. I mentioned that I like to use my smart glasses camera for POV, hands-free video, for documenting projects, or demonstrating tasks. I offered to use them to assist with future video projects. I’m not sure who else to talk to about that, so just asking here for visibility.

As an example, here is a video I made to remind myself how to switch blades on the Sawstop:

Caveats: 3-minute video length limit; vertical format; prescription lenses means either another user has to wear wrong lenses, or they have to teach me how to do the thing before I record myself doing the thing (which is actually a plus to me…). I do have another pair with non-prescription lenses, which might be an option if truly necessary.

Letting us know you’re willing to help with future videos is perfect! Thank you. I’ll bet there are tons of little demos or instructional videos that we can put together and share out through different mediums. Or even have some “cheat sheet” barcodes around the shop such as “Trying to make a miter cut? QR code to video”.

That’s a great idea for physical note taking, just from watching that once it feels like I could change that part out.

This is great - would make for a good “instructional media” kit.

Thanks Alan.

I’m involved with the Tormach CNC mill documentation.

I was just at an augmented reality Meetup.

I have 30+ years as a manufacturing engineer. Developing documentation.
