Is Perl going to be fixed? I’d like to use the rotary but … how can I get checked off on the rotary for Dorian? Is Perl’s issue something I can help with?

Pearl is being worked on but it requires sending the laser component out to be evaluated and refurbished. I’ll post an update as we learn more.

To use the Dorian rotary you have to take the class for it. As far as the initial set up, is a bit more entretaining but to actually raster stuff is a lot easier and quicker to get it done. For some reason there is not much interest or people dont know about it. Now using the jaws rotary is a bit more trickier as you have to figure out inside diameter if using the holding posts inside the object or outside diameter when using the holding posts outside the object. The jaws are more precise and you could actually use a vector setting to engrave (they call it drag engraving) instead of a raster. Ask Jordana if they can set up a class in a sooner date since Pearl is down for a few weeks or so.
Pearl is still down for repairs. The laser tube has been sent off and received by Evergreen lasers. They are going to recharge the laser tube and send it back. Exact date TBD.
We apologize for the inconvenience. It will likely be another few weeks before it is back up and running.
This is something that is required only after the laser has had significant use over a period of time. At our rate of use, that’s roughly a once every few years kind of maintenance.
With pearl down, please schedule ahead for laser usage to ensure you have your project time booked.
