Is it possible to pay someone for glazing 4 pieces of mine? Is there a “Glaze Request” form? If so, where do I put the pieces to be glazed?
Hello, Brian!
If you did a one-off class and made pieces there, we do have a glazing service so that you can walk away with your pieces finished.
You fill in the Green ticket, and the google form, pay the $10 fee (per piece) in Neon(self-service).
Another great option is taking our one-off “How to glaze” classes. It is cheaper ($20 for a two hour class) and you walk away with the knowledge to do it yourself
The glaze service I believe is in Neon today.
We talked about it going in Square when Laurel was here but I don’t believe that part made it in.
If that’s more convenient I can add that button there
Juliana and Robert,
I did take the “Wheel” course. However, I gazed the class pieces after two weeks myself.
Would it be possible to fill out a green ticket for the 4 pieces (that were made by my visiting daughter) to get them glaze or better yet dipped in the new blue?
My Ceramics membership expires today so I’ll be “locked out” and was hoping to purchase the service to finish things up. They are a nice set of four 8” bowls. I’ll be stopping by this afternoon to clean out my half-shelf, pick up any bisque / fired pieces, etc.
I tried to get on Neon, went to all the pages and saw nothing about purchasing glazing. Can you send me a link or tell me where in Neon it is?
Bri
@ewei with the assistance here, thank you.
Just make sure that’s paid and you follow Julianas instructions above
Robert,
Thank you very much for the link. I have purchased 4 glazing service requests. One for each bowl.
I am storing these four bisque-fired pieces, that we discussed in the MPR today, at home. Please tell me when the new blue dip is available so I can bring my pieces from home, fill out the green request forms, and notify you so that you can glaze them via dipping. Thank you for offering to do this for me.
Bri, @bwatt
Brian,
It was a pleasure talking to you in person, and I’m glad @NickE also offered to help.
Let me know if you need anything else from us! ![]()
Thank you for all that you do in the Ceramics Studio. I look forward to hearing from Nick when things are ready.
@NickE How’s it going with the blue dip? I’m ready when you are.
Test tiles came out of the kiln on Friday, dip glaze has not been made in full batches yet.
I’m curious about the shade of blue on the test tiles, if you have a chance I’d love to see a picture of them.
@NickE Any update about the new blue dip and when you’ll be ready for my four bowls?
Awaiting testing.
Any news @NickE about the testing of the glaze dip?
We made the full batch and submitted a test tile last week. I think we should get it back this week sometime.
If you could take a picture of the test tile and post it here I’d like to see it.
So I paid and I await for assistance in getting 4 bowls glazed and fired. I’d like them glazed in blue. Every so often I get contacted, I get excited and then nothing happens. The bowls are here at my house waiting. It makes me sad to learn that no one is following through on this request.
Hey, Brian— I’m sorry to hear that. I didn’t realize you had paid for glaze service. Usually the pieces are kept in studio with a green tag which indicates they are glaze service pieces. Volunteers would have noticed them sitting around so long and asked questions.
Our in house blue glaze failed and comes out brown when fired— so we’re going to have to rework it at a later date. Someone mentioned messaging you to let you know about the blue, but perhaps they didn’t reach out to you?
Generally, I would think that when paying for glaze service you would select a glaze that we already currently offer— I’m sure that’s contributed to the frustration of waiting since it can take weeks to mix and test a glaze. Currently we only have one person officially authorized to mix and test glazes, so that also limits our capacity to bring new glazes online.
I’ll be in the studio tomorrow and will check which blue commercial glazes we have and let you know. Realistically, the in house blue won’t get remixed and retested for quite some time— and if it fails again, it’ll be even longer.
I’ll update you tomorrow!
I have a bottle of a darker blue, close to navy, I’d be happy to let someine use to get Brian’s pieces done. @bwatt it’s the blue I used for the laser test pieces I showed you. @smartin if you want to look on my shelf, there is a box that has those laser canvas pieces in it. The blue is in there. It’s not the right stuff for me anyways.
