Oil on CNC wasteboard?

Some oil soaked into the oak I was carving today that transferred from the wasteboard. I would have been very upset except it was luckily on the outside waste of the cut, so it didn’t hurt my work. I wasn’t aware we could use oil on the CNC cuts (maybe metal?). So, beware - move to a spot that is clean .

If you use oil, put down spoil board on top of the spoil board

Yep, new user was trying to cut aluminum, tried lubricating oil, and it wasn’t going all that well. He’d tried to protect the bed but it flung much further than he pictured.

I didn’t see it until it was already being used and spattered around. We talked a bit about that.

Water base coolant will give better results too, oil isn’t effective at cooling like water.
