No file and bad drive

No file :
That’s not the exact code that comes up when trying to load the gcode into the swift cnc. It’s saved and shows up when the drive is in the computer but when plugging into the controller on the CNC a message comes up that says nothing is found.
It happens randomly and I can’t figure out what I am doing wrong that this pops up from time to time but would like to get it figured out .

Bad drive :
This has come up several times with the memory stick I use - so much that I have several. Is there a particular drive I should use to avoid it ?
Thanks for any info .

Drive should be 8gb or less. I like to use the ones that have a indicator light. Sometimes the controller takes 10 to 15 secs to load the drive, the light lets you know it’s done loading.

Thanks - I didn’t know about the size.
I understand about the time for the drive to load - but have still had the same error light comes on - the message about reading drive then the ready prompt and then … no data . I’ll take a pic next time

The USB connector on the pendant for the small CNC has been known to have problems for several months. The connector’s attachment to the board is suspect; re-attaching or replacing it was discussed, but either way it’s a precision soldering job on an expensive piece of hardware, so no one has stepped forward to do it. But either that needs to be done or the whole pendant needs replacing.

This happens to me a bunch.

When it does I leave the drive plugged in, fully turn the machine off and wait 15 seconds (until all the lights go out) before turning it back on.

I’ve gotten that to work a few times on drives it said had no files.

I just wiggle the drive around. When I finally get it to connect, I put the pendant down and handle it extremely carefully to avoid jostling it.

Thanks - i did do that once and it corrected - that’ll be my go to moving forward. The problem is odd though .

Is there something mechanically wrong with the jack, or does it just need some deoxit and compressed air?

I’m pretty sure it’s been mechanically compromised. There’s no place to secure the pendant on the small CNC, so it has fallen off the table with a USB drive in the port many times.
