We are delighted to formally welcome @Johnvaughn to the Leadership Team as our newest Woodshop Lead, where he will serve alongside @Glory2God .
The dedication and expertise of our volunteer Shop Area Leads are crucial for Asmbly to offer quality shop areas and guide volunteer stewards, making them a vital part of the Leadership Team and a driving force for improvements within individual shops. This role contributes directly to Asmbly’s mission to enrich Austin’s maker community by providing a top-notch creative space.
If you’ve met John before, you’ll know he’s got a stellar attitude and eager to help folks get what they need, fix a thing, or just good advice on how to accomplish what they’re after. His regular job is in making things! John is an active user of the woodshop already, which gives him that added edge of being familiar with our hotspots and sweet spots.
When approaching John—or any Lead—please politely ask if he is currently on volunteer time or working on personal/job projects. This helps him manage the time dedicated to his official Lead duties versus his personal making time. We also remind all members that upkeep and care for the facility is your responsibility; space leads are here to guide and help manage their respective areas (not to empty the dust collector after everyone’s session).
