New Tapering Jig in the Wood Shop

If you read my previous post about the new style push blocks that are now available for use in the shop I also had a look at other things that Micro Jig had in their booth. One thing that some folks have requested is a tapering jig. At home I have a metal tapering jig that is a bit fussy to set up and use. Rather than tempting the Saw Stop gods with a brake trigger I have the Micro Jig Micro Dial Tapering Jig that will reside near the table saw in the Wood Shop.

  • The primary use is tapers and this jig allows you to set that up via the degree scale or the rise over run scale. You can also free hand the angle by marking the material and aligning that mark with the miter slot on the table saw.

  • Another use is to cut a reference edge on an uneven board.

Not too difficult to use once you orient yourself to the settings on the jig. Here is a link to a walkthrough of the key features: Micro Dial Tapering Jig
