New Miter Sled Design

I’ve been working on a new miter sled design for the shop (and for my shop). It’s kind of a knockoff of the Rockler sled, but a bit simpler, and we should be able to cut new blanks on the new laguna’s with ease. As designed it will only require a single threaded insert to be attached to get up and working. And it has the added benefit of being very easy to square and set.

This particular version has a spoil board attached. The whole spoil board interface is optional.
I’ll have one set up in the shop soon. Waiting on a couple parts to come back in stock.

This new sled can be used with Dado’s. And we can create some miter variants. I’m hoping this will cut down on maintenance for the double-rail sled.

The new sled is operational. I’m going to laser etch the warnings and instructions into this particular one. Since it’s the dado sled it will have a longer shelf-life than it’s miter sister.

For now just tighten the knob till snug. It’s only MDF and you will crush it otherwise.

I’ll get the miter version done sometime next week. Apparently there a global Incra miter bar shortage, and I’m waiting for the other bar to arrive at woodcraft.
