New Metal Shop Policy: Face Shields

And here is the first of the announcements I promised. We have a new safety policy in the metal shop: Face shields are to be worn (in addition to / over your regular safety glasses!) whenever you are doing work on: either of the chop saws, any of the belt sanders, any of the bench grinding wheels, or any of the angle grinders. This does not include the polishing wheels or the deburring wheels, but does include the wire brush wheel.

Basically, if the tool can throw sparks or break apart (e.g., abrasive blade, angle grinder discs) or potentially throw a piece (e.g., chop saws), you need to wear a face shield when using it. There are signs up around the area now, and stewards may remind you if they see you not wearing one when you should.

The face shields are readily found on a rack above the chopsaw/sander/grinder table by the DoAll. There are usually one or two on the welding helmet rack as well.

Many thanks to @Andres79 for making all three of these racks! They look great!
